The Weaver Valley Cyclocross event (5th round of the NW CX) was held on Saturday 18th October in Northwich. In the Youth race Nicole Clarke was 7th (1st girl) and James Wright 22nd. Andrew Clarke was 7th in the under 10s race. In the vets/womens race, Ian Clarke was 56th. Full results can be found here.

National Trophy Cyclocross – Nicole Clarke 3rd
Nicole Clarke rode in the under 14 girls National Trophy cyclocross event on Sunday 12th October in Shrewsbury. Nicole managed to get 3rd place with a strong ride. Full results can be found here.
On the Saturday (11/10), Nicole’s brother, Andrew was 4th in the under 10 boys cyclocross event at Rossendale with dad, Ian, 48th in the veterans race. Full results can be found here.

Great Orme Road Race – Craig Rogers 3rd.
The Great Orme Road race was held on Sunday 28th September. A number of youth section members took part. Results below:

Club 100 mile TT record broken
Mike Garner broke the club 100 mile TT record on the A50 with a 3.49.59 on the 6th September. The previous record was set by Don Hacking in 1992 with 3.58.30.
3 Peaks Cyclo-cross challenge – Jessica Wilkinson breaks under 18s record
Jessica Wilkinson and dad, Clive Wilkinson, rode the 3 Yorkshire peaks Cyclo-cross challenge at the end of September. Both Jessica and Clive achieved sub 5 hour rides and won the father and daughter competition. In addition, Jessica broke the under 18s females record with her time.
LVRC track championships
Dave Large and Geoff Brandt represented the club at the LVRC Track championships in Newport last weekend. A report has kindly been supplied by Dave Large below:
” LVRC TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS NEWPORT VELODROME 20/21-9-2014
DAY 1
SPRINT
Qualifying rides Flying 200 metres Group E (60-64) Dave Large qualified 1st fastest 13.178sec
Group F (65-69) Geoff Brandt qualified 1st fastest 13.372sec
Both of us progressed through 1st round and semi-finals to finals without losing a match.
Dave outgunned in final and ended up with silver medal.
Geoff won his final to take gold medal.
POINTS RACE 40laps
Dave missed out on sprints 1&2 but managed to lead out the 3rd sprint with 1.5 laps to go. Unfortunately man on lap board forgot to update so became 2.5 laps to sprint. I am only good for 1.5 laps so hung on to get 4th place 1 point. No chance of getting in medals so pulled out to save ones self for sprint rounds.
Geoff finished race but no points scored.
DAY 2
PURSUIT
Dave rode 2K 8 laps rubbish not my scene but had to be done.
Geoff did not register for pursuit.
500 TIME TRIAL
Dave picked a lower gear and was up on first lap but was pulled back on second lap ended up 4th 40.53secs
Geoff produced the fastest time in his group 39.75secs result gold.
SCRATCH RACE 40laps
Both age groups rode together. Both geared up for this event. Race ran off at high speed all the way through. No breaks allowed to go both keeping an eye on respective group riders. Last 3 laps group F riders led it out Geoff followed the right wheel and got 2nd silver. Dave followed the group E winner across the line for silver. (MADE UP)
Geoff with 2 golds and 1 silver won the overall age group jersey.
Great weekend by both.”
High Performance Centre Potential Customer Input Survey
Chris Boardman has devised a survey regarding wind tunnel testing. The aim is to eventually provide such testing at reasonable cost for cyclists. The survey will take about 4 minutes to complete. To complete the survey click here.
Litherland Circuit League round 20 & Final results
The 20th race of the Litherland Circuit league was held on Wednesday (20/8/14). Lizzie McDermott was the only BNECC representative and was 1st in the Youth B girls category.
The overall results for the full league series for BNECC members are as follows:
- Max Spedding (PH-MAS Cycling/BNECC honorary member) – 1st 2/3 cat junior (E/1/2/3 races)
- Lewis Ball – joint 6th 3rd cat junior (3/4 races)
- Max Moss & George Higgins – both joint 7th in the youth B boys category.
- Lizzie McDermott – 1st in the youth B girls category.
- Louis Johnston – 9th in the youth C boys category.
- Connor Larkin – 8th in the youth D boys category.
- Charlie Byrne – 1st in the youth E boys category.
Johnny Helms Memorial 2-up 25mile TT
